Careers Provision Statement for Stakeholders – The Heights Burnley

At The Heights Burnley, we recognise that high-quality careers education is a shared responsibility – one that relies on strong partnerships with stakeholders to raise aspirations, enhance opportunities, and ensure meaningful progression for all our learners.

Our careers provision is designed to meet the needs of our pupils.  We deliver a structured, personalised programme that aligns with the Gatsby Benchmarks and is embedded across the curriculum from Year 7 to Year 11.

Key elements of our provision include:

  • One-to-one careers guidance with a qualified advisor
  • Employer encounters, workplace visits, and motivational speakers
  • CV writing, interview skills, and transition support
  • Work experience placement and tailored extended work placement opportunities
  • Engagement with further and higher education providers
  • Tailored support for SEND learners and those with EHCPs
  • Use of labour market information to inform planning and raise awareness of local opportunities

We actively seek and value stakeholder feedback to ensure our provision remains responsive, relevant, and impactful. By working collaboratively with employers, colleges, training providers, and local agencies, we aim to create pathways that are not only aspirational but also accessible and achievable for every young person.

Together, we are shaping futures – helping our students develop the skills, confidence, and direction needed to succeed beyond The Heights.

Stakeholder Feedback

Working with The Heights has been a really positive experience. We’ve built a great partnership that makes supporting pupils with careers advice both meaningful and enjoyable. The team is always welcoming, proactive, and clearly committed to helping young people explore their future options — it’s brilliant to be part of that journey.

We always value the opportunity to visit The Heights, Burnley, on behalf of East Lancashire Learning Group to showcase the wide range of opportunities available at Nelson & Colne College and Accrington & Rossendale College. The team at The Heights consistently provides us with a warm welcome and excellent support.

It’s particularly rewarding to see students engage with our presentations, explore their interests further, and progress to submitting applications. We are proud to see these students now thriving in further education – a testament to the dedication of The Heights staff in preparing their learners for the next stage of their academic journey.
