Year 9
Our year 9 provision aims to provide a rich and varied curriculum for our pupils to engage with. Our offer is one which aims to prepare pupils for KS4. Lessons are sequenced for the full year in anticipation that students remain with us into KS4.
Through our teaching, we hope to re-engage pupils with a love of learning; providing high academic challenge and a safe and supporting environment. The provision benefits from small class sizes, enabling intense input from the staff and provides a safe and structured environment in which pupils are given opportunities to develop academically as well as emotionally and socially. This provision has two strands: our priority strand and our individual growth strand. The priority strand of the curriculum focusses on securing the foundations of the core subjects whilst the individual growth strand concentrates on developing the pupils’ social and emotional skills across a range of subjects which will enable pupils to successfully access the KS4 curriculum.
Assessment
On entry, pupils will have the following baseline assessments:
Boxall

Each subject will assess academic progress against the specific subject content covered during the respite placement. Each subject will assess progress made against individual growth targets set based on the Boxall assessment and the reason for referral. Formative assessment will take place each lesson.
